Very rare oversized stainless steel 38.5 mm VINCA Précision, Ref. 2526 waterproof Ermetico impermeable chronograph wristwatch, powered by manual winding Cal. Valjoux 71, made early 1950s. Very similar to a very first series of Jardur Bezelmeter from 1940s, sharing the same bezel and case, and the same movement. Of course few more manufactures were using these high pressure large waterproof cases, like for example a famous Vetta Ermetico chronograph with only difference in a bezel.
I found it very interesting how back then the industry easily shared watch components with each other, like cases, movements, even dials. I think Vinca made one of the best combination of available parts – huge solid waterproof case with cork! seals, rotating countdown bezel, easy to read black glossy dial and powered by reputable Valjoux 71 movement. And I bet the price was more affordable, compared to Longines & Omega chrono’s from the same era.
Not a lot is known about Vinca manufacture, only that Fabrique d’Horlogerie “Vinca SA” was registered in 1919 in Biel, trademark “Vinca précision“ was registered in 1950 by Vinca SA.
Watch is in overall very good condition 8/10, running and ready to wear or gift!
