Fine and rare Art Deco “Les Trois Selliers Paris“, revolving chromed desk compendium clock powered by 8-day going Pontifa-Audoine movement with triple-date perpetual calendar with ivory cylinder, barometer, thermometer and compass mounted on a rotating stepped square pedestal base raised on bracket feet. Made circa 1940.
These exact types of desk compendiums were made for a few different luxury retailers and have been found with different brand names on the dials. There are examples with ‘Kirby Beard Paris‘ (an old English retailer who established a luxury boutique in Paris in 1878), of course famous ‘Hermès‘, ‘J. Auricoste‘ and ‘Dunhill‘. These weather stations as they were commonly known, were the height of luxury for any wealthy home to have on a desk, or in the library. This particular model has a clock that was made for “Les Trois Selliers”, it was a respectful French luxury design house, specialised in leather goods: hand made suitcases, travel bags, etc. Probably this clock was displayed in their boutique in Paris in the middle of 1940s.
