Vintage 35mm stainless steel coin edge (flat bezel) case LONGINES Calatrava Ref. 5030, powered by manual winding Cal. 12.68Z, wristwatch, made early 1940s. Featuring original dial, that has aged to a handsome creme brûlée colour. Paired with modern beads-of-rice stainless steel bracelet. Comes with original archive extract from Longines.
Information from Longines’ handwritten archives: “The original serial number 6’238’883 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 5030 and the order number 21762. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 12.68Z. It was invoiced on 6 March 1942 to the company Ostersetzer, which was at that time our agent for Italy.”

Three-body, stainless steel, fixed/wired lugs, snap case back; D. aged silvered dial, outer minute track to the 1/5th of second and a subdial for the small second (at 6 o’ clock), Arabic numerals, blued steel leaf hands. M. Cal. 12.68z, 17 jewels, bimetallic balance. Dial, case, and movement signed. Dim. 35 mm.
