Very rare Stainless Steel Hanhart 417ES, SN:14216 Flieger Flyback Chronograph made circa 1956-57. The Hanhart 417 is a relatively rare watch. It is estimated that only 500 were made in either pure stainless steel (reference 417ES) or chromed brass (reference 417).
Steve McQueen wore the same 417ES throughout his life on a brown leather fatstrap, including in the movie The War Lover. McQueen was known to wear this watch often when he was riding his motorcycle. Since only around 500 were made, there is a 1 in 500 chance this is McQueens actual watch.
C. stainless steel, screwed back, revolving reeded bezel. D. black with radiumed Arabic numerals + auxiliary dials for the seconds and 30 minutes registers. Luminescent “batons” hands. M. 15 3/4 “‘ rhodiumed, 17 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Dial and case signed. In very good condition. Diam. 39 mm.
