Very rare RECORD “Discover” (Longines “Comet”) short-lived mystery dial watch from the seventies, Ref. 8475. The watch was also available as a Longines “Comet” (same design, movement, case, even same reference no., difference is only the writing on the crystal and engraving on the movement), it’s because Longines owned the “Record Watch Co” since 1961.
The watch is featuring a broad arrow for hours and an orbiting dot for minutes. Both are on revolving discs, making them appear to move without being connected to the dial, hence the term ‘mystery dial’. The watch is considered to be uncommon, as the design was deemed too avant-garde for tastes at the time, so comparatively few were sold. Red is the most rare colour, followed by yellow, the most common colour being blue. It was also produced in black and white, and in brown, maroon and green variations.
Size: 35 x 41 mm; Movement : Cal. Record 661 (Longines 702) manual wind; Crystal: Original Record plastic crystal; Crown: original Longines signed; Caseback: Stainless screw-on. Signed.
Watch is in overall great condition, running and ready to wear or gift!
