A fine and rare vintage all steel 35 mm self-winding Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic “Deep Diver”, Ref. 7897, 200 meters diving wristwatch, made early 1960s. Belonging to the second generation of Deep Divers from GP, this watch was produced in 1961 or 62 to different dial variations black and white with a total production of 1500 units, making coming across one of these even more of a rare occurrence. Moreover the 7897 didn’t only come in two different dial colors, but also with two different sets of hands. Inside is the Cal GP 31-09, based on the AS1649, automatic movement beating at the rate of 21 600 bph. Comes on original GP stainless steel bracelet made by JB Champion (a bit short, so fits up to 17 cm wrist), exactly the same as shown on the vintage advertising. The icing on the cake is original untouched black dial in perfect condition.
