A large melting kind of a pear shape gold-plated third series Exaequo “Dali” softwatch inspired by the painting of Salvator Dali “The persistency of memory”. Large 45×27 mm case, white dial, Roman numeral hour markers, round crown, comes on original unused green leather strap with correct buckle. The watch itself is powered by a reliable quartz movement.
Obviously Exaequo Softwatch is likened to the famous Crash de Cartier watch, but has its own very interesting history. Exaequo was founded in 1990, most famous by their interpretation of Dali’s soft watches, they created few series in different styles and colours, this is a third series. In 1998 Exaequo company was closed as they used Salvador Dalì signature on the dial without permission and this got them sued and made them close the company. The Softwatch was no longer produced and that’s what makes it collectible nowadays.
I would recommend to take a look amazing video “The full story of the Exaequo Softwatch, the watch of Salvador Dalì” created by IamCasa (Andrea Casalegn) available on his YouTube channel, if you want to have more information.
Watch is in overall great 9/10 condition, running and ready to wear!
