Very fine and rare Art Deco Platinum, 18k Yellow Gold & rose-cut Diamonds tonneau-shaped “Tortue” CARTIER, Paris, No. 8405 lady’s wristwatch, diameter approximately 30 mm x 22.5 mm. Completed by a black grosgrain ribbon strap and gold deployant clasp, accompanied by fitted Cartier box. Made circa 1920s.
C. Two-body, tonneau-shaped, solid platinum, polished, the bezel and lugs set with rose-cut diamonds, diamond set winding-crown, yellow gold back with 4 screws in the band. D. Matte white with painted radial Arabic numerals (restored), inner minute track. Blued steel “Epée” hands. M. Cal. JLC 818/3 (changed), rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance. Dial signed, case numbered by Cartier (matching numbers on the gold case back and platinum case). Dim. 23 x 30 mm. Thickness 6 mm.
