Extremely rare vintage 37mm stainless steel Universal Geneve Tri-Compax manual winding triple date wristwatch, Ref. 22543, Cal. 287, made circa 1945, featuring full calendar, moon phase and of course the chronograph. Gorgeous original dial shows lovely patina, that have developed over the course of 80 years. The watch is paired with beads-of-rice stainless steel bracelet to complete the look.
Universal Genève advertised the Tri-Compax as being useful for “every business and professional man.”, ever since its debut in the 1944, it’s been worn by everyone from presidents (Harry S. Truman) to rock stars (Eric Clapton).
C. Three-body, polished and brushed, concave lugs, inclined bezel, snap-on case back. D. Silver with Arabic numeral, outer minutes and 1/5th seconds track and tachymeter graduation to 1000 UPH, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12- hour and 30-minute registers, date at 12, apertures for the days of the week (in Italian), the months (in Italian) and the moon phases. Gold feuille hands.. Cal. 287, gilt brass, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance with screws, blued steel over-coiled balance spring, index regulator.
