Vintage iconic 40mm steel Universal Genève ‘Space Compax’ Mark II Ref. 885104/02, Valjoux 72 chronograph wristwatch made in late 1960s, comes with original rare box! There are various rumors about the purpose and origins of the Space-Compax, including that it may have been designed to unseat the Omega Speedmaster as the watch of choice for NASA.
Well, this is a very well known watch, so all I can add is the condition – all original. Big S/S asymmetrical case, the serial and reference number are still clearly visible on the case back and clearly legible. Original and excellent preserved all black dial, the original tritium lume, signed Swiss T, original rubber pushers, which are perfectly intact. The original plexiglas bears the UG logo in its center. The rotating bezel has been well preserved. Original screw-down “U” crown. Powered by the manual winding movement cal. Valjoux 72 (Universal Genève 85), runs flawlessly.

D. black and “guilloché” silver with tritium-coated indexes, auxiliary dials for the seconds, the 12 hours and 30 minutes registers. “Bâton” tritium-coated steel hands. M. Cal. UG85 (Valjoux 72), rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock-absorber, self-compensating flat balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 40 mm.
Runs great and all functions work as expected. Watch is in very good vintage condition 8/10, running and ready to wear or gift!
