A great automatic diver CROTON Depthmaster watch, Reference 9864, made by Nivada Grenchen, circa 1965.
Case: 37mm, stainless steel with black bi-directional rotating bezel, screw back, acrylic crystal; Movement: automatic, calibre ETA 2472, 17 jewels; Dial: black with luminous tritium markers, date window at 3 o’clock.
This particular watch was mentioned and reviewed by famous Hodinkee journal (at the end of the page):
” There is lot to like about its tool-watch look. The bezel insert has faded nicely, (something you would pay serious cash for in any vintage Sub) while the patina on the indexes has taken on a warm orange note. The hands show some traces of deterioration at the base of their tritium lume, but that’s preferable to a relume. Though the dial says Croton, it’s a Nivada – Croton was the US-specific branding in the wake of a lawsuit by Movado, claiming that Nivada sounded too much like Movado and could confuse consumers. “
Age related condition with slight traces of wear. Watch is in overall very good condition, running and ready to wear or gift!
