Vey rare and fine signing bird automaton box is a work of mechanical wonder, featuring a movement crafted by the renowned Karl Griesbaum in mid of 20th century in Germany. Hand-painted enamel views of Geneva and other Swiss panoramas and meadows adorns the entire case by Emil Brenk. Concealed inside is a miniature bird, covered with colorful hummingbird feathers. When the lid is opened, the bird appears to sing a lovely tune, while moving his beak and flapping his wings. When the birdsong is complete, the tiny creature simply slips back into the box and the lid closes behind it. The box is recently serviced by famous REUGE (Swiss luxury music boxes manufacture).
Gold plated metal box with polychrome enamels, circular vignettes on all four sides, the top having a famous Geneva’s seen – “Pont des Bergues”, “Île Rousseau” and “Cathédrale Saint-Pierre”. On other four sides are seen famous Swiss landmarks, such as “Rütli on Lake Lucerne”, “Château de Chillon” in Montreaux, etc. The oval hinged top opens to a feathered bird with moving wings and singing. Beautiful sound. The bottom is stamped “EB” (Emil Brenk) and “metal”. With key.
