Ultra rare mahogany-cased OMEGA Seamaster “Chronomètre de marine” aka Mariner III, quartz marine chronometer clock No. 1846890, made circa 1983. Powered by well known Imhof quartz movement, that were used for their own clocks but also sold to many other high-end clock companies, like Jaeger-Lecoultre, Omega and Cartier. Accompanied by original Omega-shaped key.
The clock is very rare, so even not illustrated in Omega bible “AJTT” Marco Richon’s book, only on the page 306 mentioned the same Seamaster “Mariner III” series wrist and pocket watches under Ref. DL 396.0985 & ST 196.1784 correspondingly. All these three timepieces are presenting very technical aesthetics inspired by navigational instuments, flat sapphire crystal, and screwed metallic black and gold bezels reminiscent of portholes.
C. Three-body, mahogany deck box with brass-bound corners. Movement and dial in a hinged brushed brass case: an empty brass plaque and a locking knob. D. White with Roman numerals, outer minute/seconds track. Black pointed baton hands. M. Imhof quartz movement, quartz standardisation. Dial, case, and movement signed. Dim. 13.5 x 14 x 9.5 cm.
Imagine this Omega marine chronometer gracing a table or desk in your home or office interior. Its distinctive styling, in a classical nautical design, adds a note of functional beauty to any decor.
