Vintage charming gilt brass world time HERMES desk clock with day and date, made circa 1960s. Powered by well known Imhof quartz movement, that were used for their own clocks but also sold to many other high-end clock companies, like Jaeger-Lecoultre, Omega and Cartier.
The “World Time” or “Heures du Monde” system was invented in 1930s by Louis COTTIER (1894 – 1966), an independent watchmaker in Geneva. The World Time system was very quickly adopted by Patek Philippe and the greatest Swiss manufacturers such as Agassiz, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin and Hermès in clocks and pocket watches.
