Rarely seen military pilot’s 37.5mm all steel! MOVADO “Chronometer” wristwatch, Ref. 12717, powered by crazy accurate chronometer grade movement Cal. 75, that have been produced between 1936 and 1938.
It is unique in that it is the only steel pilot watch that shares almost identical physical attributes to the famed IWC MK IX, having large steel case, inner steel dust cover, and an identical steel coin edge rotating bezel with inner triangle to time events (interchangeable with the MK IX). Born to offer to pilots a very precise instrument that could be extremely reliable even in the most extreme conditions, so as you could imagine not a lot of them actually survived, especially with original dials, like this one. As far as I know less than 10 examples have been observed.
C. Two-body, polished and brushed, snap-on case back, dust-protecting cap, reeded bidirectional revolving bezel with inner black triangle to time events, concave lugs. D. Silver with painted luminous Arabic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial. Blued steel baton hands. M. Cal. 75, rhodium-plated, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Dial, case, and movement signed. Dim. 37.5 mm.
This is a rare opportunity to pick up oversize all steel pilot’s watch with do storm-beaten, but still original double Swiss dial. Watch is in vintage condition 6/10, running and ready to wear or gift!
